Kaunas Locals - Round 1

Twilight vs. X-Sabers
As less than one week remains until Summer Cup, here at Kaunas locals we prepare to keep the trophy here! Today we’ll supply you with an almost full day coverage of our locals – have awesome is that?!

The first match features Auris versus Marijus. Auris is playing Twilight, while Marijus is running X-Sabers. This promises to be a splendid match! Marijus won the dice roll and opted to go first.

He opened with Royal Oppression, Gold Sarcophagus, Saber Slash, Thunder King Rai-Oh, XX-Saber Fulhelmknight and Darksoul. He summoned Rai-Oh, played a backfield, Sarcophagus went for Rescue Cat and Marijus passed to Auris. He set a mon and s/t before passing. Marijus drew Mind Control, but took his opponent’s Honest! He summoned Fulhelmknight though, tried to synchro, but Book of Moon turned Fulhelmknight face-down. His Rai-Oh poked for 1900 and passed before bouncing Honest to Auris’ hand – a smart move as Auris doesn’t have a monster on the field anymore. Auris drew, set a monster and passed without a backrow. Marijus drew Torrential Tribute, finally got Rescue Cat, flipped Fulhelmknight and summoned Cat! He searched Airbellum and Darksoul – both went for Goyo Guardian. Goyo took down Honest, Fulhemknight attacked, but Auris summoned Gorz! Rai-Oh took down the token and Gorz itself was destroyed with Saber Slash during Main Phase 2. Auris couldn’t survive another turn and scooped!

Both players picked up their side-decks, but Marijus opted not to side. Auris begun the match with Solar Recharge, milling Prison and Bottomless. Next he activated Charge of the Light Brigade, milling Lyla, Ryko and Foolish Burial. He searched for Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner. She hit the field, dropped Shiny Black “C” and revived Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress. He thought for a moment and passed, milling Necro Gardna.

Marijus opened with Fulhelmknight, Gottoms’ Emergency Call, Mystical Space Typhoon, Brain Control, Airbellum and Rai-Oh. He started with Brain Control, taking Lyla. Next, Airbellum hit the field – Lyla destroyed Lumina and Airbellum forced out the Necro Gardna. Finally, he tried to summon Ancient Fairy Dragon, but “C” destroyed it. Afterwards, he passed with a backfield. Auris drew and activated Monster Reincarnation to take Lumina back. Finally, he summoned Judgment Dragon! Mystical Space Typhoon was destroyed, Auris summoned another Dragon, then Lumina and, without a doubt, Marijus conceded.

Finally, Marijus decided to utilize the side-deck, while Auris pile-shuffled his deck. Marijus obviously started and drew Faultroll, Mirror Force, Heavy Storm, Fulhelmknight, Airbellum and Emergency Call. He summoned Fulhelm, set Mirror Force and passed. Auris drew, activated Solar Recharge again and milled Gorz and Honest! Next, Foolish Burial got him Wulf, Lightsworn Beast. He tributed Wulf for Caius, removing Fulhelmknight. Mirror Force blocked the attack and Auris passed with a backfield. Marijus drew Solemn Judgment, Heavy Stormed Auris’ Prison, a summoned Airbellum raked Ryko from the hand and he passed with Solemn.

Auris played a mon and s/t to end his turn. Marijus drew Darksoul, summoned it and special summoned Faultroll. He thought for a moment about the set monster before attacking Necro Gardna with Faultroll! Darksoul struck directly, but Airbellum was blocked with Book of Moon! Marijus flipped Solemn Judgment and Auris finally removed Necro Gardna. Next, he summoned XX-Saber Gottoms, discarded Celestia, set a backrow and passed, searching XX-Saber Ragigura. Auris drew his only card – Lyla, summoned her, but Marijus’ backfield was Gottoms’ Emergency Call – Darksoul and Airbellum returned to the field! Finally, Auris didn’t mill anything useful and Marijus finished the duel, summoning Ragigura, taking Faultroll back. Then Airbellum and Ragigura became Armory Arm, which equipped itself to Gottoms. Faultroll revived Airbellum and all the monsters swung for game!
